one of the things that i Miss most in Istanbul is..
Rice Pudding!
or Sutlac is what they call in Turkish.
Sutlac..
Sutlac..
Sutlac..
Now i am salivating.
it is a rice, cooked in a pudding-ish kind of way.
it is sweet, and tasty.
not to sweet. boiled, baked to perfection.
(chewahh)
we had it for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
3 times a day!
for all the days we were there.
yes, it showed how crazy we got over it.
this included Ayra.
and my Mom
and when we got back here, we badly crave for it.
as expected!
Thank god i did thought of the 'craving' beforehand.
my brilliant mind thougtof Instant Sutlac!
and so we bought the instant rice pudding sachet at their supermarket.
Carrefour that is.
i didn't know what brand to choose. nor did i understand what those writings on the sachet meant.
i just grabbed those which had Sutlac written on it.
hehehe
it is so easy to make.
the instructions at the back of the sachet were written in Turkish.
obviously.
so, i had to goggle translate word by word.
well.. not word by word.
just getting the hint of what to use and how long to boil.
it is so easy peasy.
Sutu Bir : milk (no, not beer!)
5 dadika: 5 minutes
the rest is history.
after it is boiled, cooked, pour it into a bekas, and keep it a fridge.
it is best served and eaten cool.
Hubby and I wanted to make it from scratch.
we googled for Sutlac recipes.
well, it is not that hard actually.
and all the ingredients are in our small kitchen.
Hubby suggested for a ala~Masterchef competition between us,
who can make the best sutlac.
It is on Babe.
