Oil and vinegar

i finally found a Halal BalsamicVinegar!

i went to Setia City Mall to buy a broccoli to make fish and mashed potato with broccoli and tomato on the side, for buka puasa. whilst there, i strolled along the alley of vinegar and sauces.

Hubby and i have been looking for balsamic vinegar, to eat with bread and olive oil. the Italian style. or more correct, Rasulullah saw style.. yes, our beloved Prophet saw likes to eat bread with olive oil and vinegar. but the practice is more familiar among the Italians compared to the muslims in Malaysia. Rasulullah saw actually likes vinegar. there are many hadith that say this about him. i don't remember the exact phrase.. sorry..

we didn't know the type of vinegar used, but seeing the italians eat bread with balsamic, we guess it makes more sense than eating synthetic cooking vinegar! and also, balsamic is the only black vinegar that we know.

we managed to find balsamic before this but looking at the back of the bottle, the content said: grape extract. so..i was wondering whether it is halal. it is sort of wine but turning into cuka? or the other way around? (tetiba wonder, padahal dah melantak habis masa dekat Itallianies Restaurant. chehh tapi i dont doubt the kehalalnan oil and vinegar nya)

however today, i found the balsamic with Halal logo. not from Jakim. it's from America Islamic regulatory. it should be ok..they are as strict as Jakim.

the balsamic is of course black in color. taste like so masam, duhh it's cuka.. but not as tajam as the synthetic one. tastes perfectly nice with a slice of bread..

Balsamic vinegar (black) with Olive Oil

so for buka today, on top of the main meal, we had an appetizer of wheat bread cicah with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. so healthy and yummy. just like having Italliannies at home... =)

(more importantly we are trying to amalkan Sunnah2 Rasulullah saw)

ps: come and like whatever that Rasulullah saw likes.. try to follow as many, as deep as we can..

tadaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa...the balsamic vinegar.. with halal logo

  1. Hi Aryna,

Boleh share gambar balsamic vinegar tu tak?

Surprisingly, last night I had buka puasa at Italian restaurant at SHeraton.. the waiter served warm breads with olive only so when I asked him "mana vinegar dik?" dia most vinegar dekat Italiannies restaurant in Malaysia tak halal sebab ada alcohol...

  2. Wow thanks a lot!!! :) really appreciate it..

Also, nak tanya what do u think of white wine vinegar? ada org cakap halal sebab walapun nama white wine tapi sebab dah melalui proses "pencukaan" (eh betul ke ayat tu? hehehe) alcohol tu dah hilang?

    Tinggal nama je hahahhaha
